Sinusoids and Phasor
A sinusoid is a signal that has the form of the sine or cosine function.
A sinusoid cuurent is usually referred to as alternating current. Such as current reverses at regular time intervals and has alternately positive and negative values. Circuits given by sinusoidal current or voltage sources are called ac circuits.
General expression for the sinusoids:
where: Vm = the amplitude of the sinusoid
ω = the angular frequency
Ф = the phase of the sinusoid
Phasor
A phasor is a complex
number that represents the
amplitude and phase of a
sinusoid. It can be represented in one
of the following three forms:
a. Rectangular
b. Polar
c, Exponential
